I now know why this was on sale. The sound card on the board sounds better. Nobody in their right mind would pay full price for this waste of equipment. Totally disappointed with this product. Don't waist your money on this device. It does send sound to another set of speakers but the quality is terrible.
I purchased this in Nov2009. That helped once. It only seems to work when it wants to. I had to goto the support site to reload the units software. However now it quit again and checking software update did not help. I have it hooked up to a Windows XP SP3 system via USB cable.
It doesn't work too well with my Netgear Wireless G router as the sound cuts in and out occasionally for a few seconds. There may be some adjustments to make on the router but I haven't tried anything yet. Overall, I'm happy with the purchase.
otherwise is a great product, it does a great job on transmitting the audio with Super quality, just be mindful of the wireless network interference. Good product; however, it does interfere with my Linksys 2.4 Ghz wireless router when it is "plugged up". it doesn't even have to be turned on to inhibit me from finding the wireless signal on my laptop. I know the product advertises that it won't interfere but it did with mine, maybe it is a "router" specific problem. So, give it a try.
No more Creative for me, ever. What do you think customers are going to do.
Unfortunately, in order to enjoy the wireless streaming, I needed to buy a separate Creative X-Fi Wireless Receiver. So I spend another 50 USD on the receiver.
So, I spend 90 USD on a soundcard for my notebook because I like the idea of wireless streaming. How can you put an X-Fi audio sender and an X-Fi audio receiver on the market and make them NOT compatible.
Unfortunately, the X-Fi Notebook only connects with a specific X-Fi Wireless receiver, while other X-Fi Wireless Receivers are not compatible. Response from Creative: please spend another 75 USD on another receiver.See, I'm usually quite an understanding guy, but here I really feel cheated.
This makes me loose my faith in the good will of this entire company. So I guess I consider my 140 USD spent on X-Fi as 100% wasted.
